The California Scrub-Jay is an uncommon year-round resident on campus in the CSUSB Preserve. The best location to find them is the taller, denser vegetation on the north side of Badger Hill. It is a common breeding resident in southern California.

The California Scrub-Jay can be identified by its bright blue head, wings, and tail, gray back, white throat bordered by blue, and light gray underparts.
