The Say's Phoebe is a common year-round, breeding resident on campus. They can be found anywhere on campus. The nest in the photo above was located underneath the north stairwell of the Social & Behavioral Sciences building. The Say's Phoebe is a fairly common resident in southern California, where it prefers dry, open areas.

The Say's Phoebe is pale brownish gray with a buff-colored belly, two indistinct white wing bars, and a black tail. Juveniles are similar but have two rust-colored wing bars.
