The White-tailed Kite is a casual visitor to campus: one was seen flying over 13 Apr 2011 and another was seen 30 Sep 2012. It is an uncommon, year-round breeding resident in southern California in grasslands, marshes, and other open habitats .
The White-tailed Kite is mostly white with a gray back and wings and a large black patch on the wings.
