The Black-necked Stilt is a casual visitor to campus with four records of individuals or small flocks in the flooded retention basins around Badger Hill between December and April. The Black-necked Stilt is a common migrant and winter visitor, and an uncommon breeding bird throughout southern California.

The Black-necked Stilt can be identified by its black upperparts, white underparts, long, narrow black bill, and long, bright pink legs.
