The Cinnamon Teal is a casual visitor to campus during winter and spring migration with five sightings between mid February and mid May. The best place to look for them is in the flooded basins around Badger Hill. The Cinnamon Teal is fairly common year round in southern California, however, it is a migratory species and its status varies seasonally throughout the region.The adult male Cinnamon Teal can be identified by its overall reddish brown plumage, red eye, and pale blue upper wing patch. Females are a plain, mottled brown with a black bill, dark eye, and pale blue upper wing patch.
