The Green Heron is a casual visitor to campus with individuals seen in the ponds north of Badger Hill on 07 Nov 2011, 29 Apr and 20 Sep 2012, and 16 Sep 2016. It is a common migrant and wintering bird in throughout southern California, and an uncommon breeding resident in riparian and aquatic habitats.The Green Heron can be identified by its small size, blackish crown, dark green upperparts, and chestnut neck with white stripes.
