The Barn Owl is a casual visitor to campus, with one seen five times between 09 Nov 2011 and 08 Oct 2012; it was seen in the olive grove below the observatory and occasionally at night perched on structures along North Campus Circle. Another was found dead on the athletic fields on 05 Nov 2014. It is a common breeding resident throughout southern California.The Barn Owl has a white face and underparts, warm brown upperparts, and a heart-shaped facial disk.
