Hermit Warbler

The Hermit Warbler is a casual visitor to campus: single spring migrants were seen 13 May 2010 and 02 May 2012, and a fall migrant was seen 07 Sep 2015. It is an uncommon migrant and a rare winter visitor, at which times it is often found in non-native pine trees. It is also a rare breeder in southern California mountains in high elevation coniferous forests.Male Hermit Warblers can be identified by their bright yellow face with black throat, grayish upperparts, and white wing bars and underparts. Females lack the black throat.
