The natural sciences museum in the Chemical Sciences building will soon exhibit a mammoth fossil recently unearthed in Irvine. Estimated to be between 10,000 and 120,000 years old, the skull and curved tusks – measuring more than 12 feet – are nearly intact. Kim Scott, a CSUSB graduate student, assisted in excavating the mammoth. Stuart Sumida and his biology students are preparing the mammoth for public display.
