1.               Update:  Budget

The CSUSB budget has been submitted to the Chancellor’s Office.  For planning purposes this academic year, we are continuing to work with 98% of our 2008-09 enrollment as our target figure.  The furlough schedule is continuing to be adjusted; there is a likelihood of up to 6 additional state shutdown days during the academic year (which would take the place of employee-selected days).  We are waiting for confirmation from the Chancellor’s Office.

2.               Update:  Enrollment Model

The Chancellor’s Office has requested a 2-year enrollment model, for 2009-10 and 2010-11.  Dr. Karnig reiterated that we are using this academic year to position ourselves for a greater decrease in student numbers next academic year.  Mr. McGowan will create a cover sheet to the 2-year model that specifies:  the number of first year students; the number of transfers; retention rates by college, by program, and by year; the average credit load; and headcount as well as FTES.  The Provost and the Deans will also flesh out this model to help get us to our enrollment targets and better position us fiscally.  Dr. Karnig stated that we will retain the option of transferring Summer Session to CEL in the future.

3.               Roundtable

Dr. Karmanova reported that 36 Korean instructors will be on campus for a “teaching English as a foreign language” program.

Dr. McGowan will provide updated enrollment figures at Tuesday’s Enrollment Task Force meeting.

Dr. Dickson has returned to the campus from her year-long leave as an ACE Fellow.
