1. Informational Handouts. President Karnig discussed the following:
· An article from Inside Higher Ed, dated April 7, entitled “History We Can’t Afford to Repeat.”
· An article from the Associated Press, dated April 8, entitled “University of California Admits Fewer Applicants.”
· An article from The Chronicle of Higher Education, dated April 7, entitled “Community College Explains How to Get a Student Off Academic Probation.”
· Two tables from Hispanic Outlook, dated April 6, entitled “Top 25—Graduate Schools Enrolling Hispanics,” “Top 25—Graduate Schools w/ First Professional Degrees,” “Top 25—Graduate Schools Awarding Master’s Degrees,” and “Top 25—Graduate Schools Awarding Doctoral Degrees.”
2. University Policies and Procedures for Student Records Administration
In light of Virginia Tech and other catastrophic situations, an ad hoc committee was appointed to revise the above-named policies and procedures. The revisions are highlighted on the document via track changes. The members of the Administrative Council were asked to review these changes and return with their feedback in two weeks.
3. Roundtable
There is a Faculty Senate meeting tomorrow, April 14, at 2:00 p.m.
Dean Jandt shared a brochure concerning the Indian Wells Theater Initiative 2009-2010.
Dean Nassar reported that the Model United Nations Team returned from New York where they won the Outstanding Delegation Award.
Dean Caballero announced a website lecture this Saturday.
Dean Yasuhara urged everyone to attend the upcoming theatre presentation.
An e-mail will be sent out to the campus announcing a webinar on Voluntary Product Accessibility.
A reminder was made of the upcoming test of the alert system.
Dr. McGowan provided a brief update on registration.
Mr. Gardner discussed the possibility of having a tram on campus during Commencement to facilitate transportation.
