Web Accessibility Statement

CSUSB assures web accessibility through automated evaluations, quarterly manual evaluations, trainings for content editors and web developers, having an open-door policy for content editors, and establishing an accessibility-conscious culture.  While CSUSB is committed to ensuring the accessibility of our websites, our numerous content editors may occasionally make changes that render certain aspects of web pages inaccessible.

Content editor errors may include:

  • Multimedia may be uploaded to web pages without audio descriptions and/or captions
  • Some web pages do not contain properly coded tables, or may be using tables for layout
  • Some web pages may not have properly nested headings
  • Links – web pages may contain the following issues:
    • broken links
    • link with same name different locations
    • empty link texts
    • redundant link
  • Images – some images may contain the following issues:
    • may not clearly communicate information in images
    • when conveying meaning, may not pass color contrast 
    • missing alt attributes

Accessible Technology Initiative at CSUSB

Accessible Technology Services supports students, faculty and staff in implement, procuring, acquiring, designing, developing, and maintaining campus-supported information and communication technology across the following areas:

ATC (Assistive Technology Center)

ATC is an integral part of CSUSB's Accessible Technology Services unit for students, faculty, and staff. 

Assistive Technology Center (ATC) is a specialized computer lab that provides and supports a variety of assistive technologies (AT) for students, faculty, and staff.  AT is traditionally used by individuals with disabilities to facilitate alternative means of access to information. However, many AT programs are often so effective that they are adopted into mainstream use by most everyone, thus the ATC lab is open to everyone.

SSD (Services to Students with Disabilities)

The Office of Services to Students with Disabilities (SSD) is committed to providing eligible students accommodations that ensure equal access to learning and equal opportunity for academic success. Students must complete an Application for Services, which includes documentation of the disability to receive services.  SSD also works with its student advisory board as well as CSUSB faculty and staff to raise campus-wide awareness of issues related to disability, accessibility, and equity.

CAAB (Campus Accessibility Advisory Board)

California State University, San Bernardino is dedicated to ensuring that programs and facilities are accessible to all students, staff, faculty, and members of the community. To this end, the Campus Accessibility Advisory Board (CAAB) has been established to assist the University to identify and resolve barriers to individuals with disabilities.

Human Resources

CSUSB provides reasonable accommodations for employees with sensory, mental or physical disabilities. A reasonable accommodation is an accommodation that enables the employee to perform the essential functions of their position, is medically necessary, and does not create an undue hardship.

WorkAbility IV

The mission of the WorkAbility IV (WA-IV) program is to provide support through enhanced career preparation services to California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) students with disabilities that are clients of the California Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) that assists them in overcoming barriers, obtaining gainful employment within their academic major and job retention.
